Real bamboo.

Our fabric

95% of what we make is bamboo. It's not marketing: it's the best fibre for a baby's skin.

All Lilulila clothing is woven from bamboo viscose (95%, with 5% elastane for the fit). We chose bamboo because it does three things conventional cotton doesn't do as well: it's softer, regulates temperature better and is naturally kinder to delicate skin.

On this page we tell you exactly why — with data, not adjectives.

The properties

What bamboo does for your baby.

Softer

Bamboo fibre has a smooth, rounded surface you feel from the first touch — up to three times softer than cotton. And it improves wash after wash instead of hardening.

Thermoregulating

Bamboo wicks moisture away from the skin and lets the fabric breathe. It warms when it's cold and disperses heat when the temperature rises — that's why one TOG works almost all year.

Kind to skin

Naturally hypoallergenic and breathable, it's a good choice for atopic or reactive skin. No pesticides or harmful substances to irritate baby.

Absorbs and dries fast

It absorbs more moisture than cotton and dries twice as fast. Ideal for muslins, bibs and those middle-of-the-night changes when you need it dry for the next day.

Renewable source

Bamboo grows fast and needs far less water than cotton to produce. A raw material that regenerates on its own, without replanting.

Certified

All our fabric carries OEKO-TEX® Std.100 class I certification, the most demanding category, designed specifically for products in contact with babies.

From plant to cot

How it becomes fabric.

An honest journey: bamboo doesn't go straight to the cot, it goes through a process. Here's ours.

1

Renewable bamboo

We start from fast-growing bamboo that regenerates without replanting or pesticides.

2

Becomes fibre

The bamboo pulp is turned into a soft, fine viscose fibre, ready to spin.

3

Woven and certified

Woven with 5% elastane for the fit and verified under OEKO-TEX®.

4

Reaches your baby

Sewn with flat seams and zips designed for the night. Ready for 200+ washes.

We call it bamboo because it is — and we tell you how.

Bamboo viscose is a regenerated fibre: it starts from the bamboo plant and goes through a process to become soft fabric. We'd rather explain it than sell it with half-truths. The result is an incredibly soft, breathable and durable fabric, certified for contact with your baby's skin.

Touch it and you'll get it.
